Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Float Nurse (RN) position is located in Johnson City, New York. This role involves providing high-quality patient care across a variety of medical-surgical units with the flexibility of floating to different areas as needed. The position emphasizes routine patient management, parent education, emergency interventions, and supporting special units such as Labor and Delivery and Neonatal Intensive Care. The Nurse will work scheduled night shifts, ensuring safe and effective nursing practices aligned with organizational standards.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: RN license in New York State, 6 months to 3 years of nursing experience, management experience from zero to 3 years, five or more years of direct nursing experience, skills in collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment/critical thinking, organizational understanding, planning, problem-solving, quality, reliability, safety, and risk management
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, professional certification in a related nursing specialty, relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and Epic proficiency
• Experience: No minimum experience required beyond the specified qualifications
• Certifications: Current NYS RN License, BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross), unit-specific requirements validated prior to candidate submission
• Additional Information: The role involves support in routine patient care, parent education, emergency response, and float coverage across units including Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, and general medical-surgical units. The position requires the ability to perform vaginal examinations and engage in continuous professional development.
