Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Nurse (MS) specializing in Medical Surgical Floor at a healthcare organization in Evansville, Indiana. This role involves providing direct patient care to a diverse adult patient population, including post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF cases. The position offers a 12-hour daytime shift with a focus on clinical excellence and critical thinking within a fast-paced hospital environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Current active compact license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), minimum 2 years of strong Medical Surgical experience, at least one travel assignment, trauma level II experience, recent Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience (EPIC), associate degree or certificate
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight catheters, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, PCA management, strong assessment and critical thinking skills, ability to work resiliently and manage change
• Float: First to float within skillset; optional cross-campus floating to different Deaconess campuses with 2 hours' notice; intra-shift float within the same campus
• On Call/Call Back Requirement: Not applicable
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule; every other holiday
• Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday
• Interview Days: Monday through Friday
• Interview Types: MSP interview
• Beds: 41 beds
• Unit Information: Experienced leadership with CNA support, no competing health system logos on scrubs
• Start Date: 08/24/2026
