Job Summary
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position available in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population, including neonates, geriatrics, pediatrics, and trauma cases. The ER setting offers an opportunity for experienced healthcare professionals to work in a busy environment requiring advanced clinical skills and excellent customer service.

Job Details

  • Location: Tacoma, WA 98444
  • Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
  • Required Qualifications: Valid certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, TNCC; 2 full years of true emergency room experience (any trauma level); strong IV skills; experience with ventilator management (BiPAP) and medication administration; ability to manage chest tubes, central lines, and intubated patients.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: This position requires completion of a telemetry competency prior to start. Orientation includes hospital and ER unit training, respiratory class, and unit-specific onboarding. Support staff include LPNs assisting with low acuity tasks and procedures. Floating to other off-campus ER sites may be required; flexibility for shift changes as per residency schedule.
  • Support on the Unit: LPNs assist in rooms and fast tracks; charge nurse performs partial patient assignments and assists with breaks; phlebotomy support primarily provided by RN or LPNs; no RTs or pharmacy responsibilities handled by the traveler.
  • Charting System: EPIC; charting responsibilities include medication administration, documentation, and procedures.
  • Equipment: Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication dispensers.
  • Float: All other off-campus ERs; support may be required to float as needed, with support for travel time mid-shift.
  • Orientation: Includes hospital orientation, ER unit training, respiratory class, and on-unit training for 2-3 weeks before being paired with a resident.
  • Travelers who start between 05/19/2025 and 06/09/2025 will be involved in pre-opening setup activities.
  • Additional Notes: Scrub color is flexible; parking is free.
