Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse in San Francisco, California. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with various surgical and oncological diagnoses. The position offers rotating 12-hour shifts within a dynamic clinical environment focused on complex wound, ostomy, and tracheotomy care, emphasizing patient education and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 12-hour rotating day/night shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: CA license in hand, BSN, ACLS certification, BLS certification, minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical-surgical oncology setting.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification, telemetry experience, ostomy management.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, OCN (or equivalent oncology certification).
  • Float: Float rotation to other UCSF campuses may be required.
  • Additional Information:
    • The unit cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including urological, gynecological, colorectal, orthopedic, breast, head and neck, liver, and pancreatic diseases.
    • Nurses perform complex wound, ostomy, and tracheotomy care, with an emphasis on patient education for discharge.
    • RTO (Requests for Time Off) must be disclosed at the time of submittal and approved by the manager; requests cannot be made after contract signing or within the first two weeks of the start date.
    • Travelers must have completed references before submission and include employment history with dates, units, and manager information for rehire eligibility.
    • Modules necessary for orientation vary between 1 to 24 hours and are completed pre-start and annually.
    • The start date is 08/18/2026; travelers in allied or outpatient/ambulatory positions may start sooner if cleared and approved.
