Description

Job Summary:
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN position is based in San Francisco. This role involves providing specialized care in a high-acuity, fast-paced medical/surgical pediatric intensive care environment for critically ill neonates through adolescents. The schedule is rotating, with responsibilities encompassing complex medical and surgical conditions, including advanced treatments and procedures.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse License, BLS, PALS certifications; at least 2 years of pediatric intensive care experience in a high-capacity (minimum 15 beds) tertiary level and teaching hospital; experience with conscious sedation, ICP, telemetry, ventilators, central line care, and other advanced skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CCRN certification, Level 1 Trauma experience, S/P Bone Marrow Transplant experience.
  • Float: Travelers are first to float to other UCSF facilities if needed.
  • Additional Information:
    • Must submit all time-off requests at the time of offer; requests after signing will not be considered.
    • Orientation hours include 48 hours prior to the start date.
    • All applicants must have completed references in hand at submission.
    • Certification of BSN and CA RN license in hand are mandatory.
    • This unit cares for a diverse patient age group including neonates, infants, adolescents, and adults, with an average daily census of 18 patients.
    • The environment supports interdisciplinary teams, including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services.
    • Emergency procedures include ventilator management, ICP monitoring, and advanced trauma care.
    • The start date for eligible travelers is 08/18/2026.
