Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse position available in a facility located in Ellsworth, Maine. The role involves providing compassionate care across all phases of labor, postpartum, and neonatal care within a level III nursery setting. The successful candidate will be experienced in managing low to high-risk obstetric patients and supporting newborns in a busy labor and delivery unit.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery; ability to work comfortably with all phases of labor, postpartum, neonatal care, and invasive procedures such as epidurals and intrathecal spinal analgesia; experience with shoulder dystocia, epidural management, and neonatal assessments including thermoregulation, hypoglycemia, bilirubin cases, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with low risk and high risk obstetric patients, including those with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, postpartum hemorrhage.
- Additional Information: The unit operates with a rooming-in model, with no dedicated nursery RN; infants are cared for by bedside nurses. The team includes a midwife, OB physicians, charge nurses, phlebotomists, and a respiratory therapist. EMR system in use is Cerner. Floating may be required to the Medical/Surgical or Emergency Departments for non-patient care tasks. Orientation includes general hospital and unit-specific training. No call is required; every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage as scheduled. Scrub color is flexible but professional. Parking is available free of charge.
