Job Summary
A Medical Surgical Orthopedic Nurse is needed in Peoria, Illinois. This position involves working on an acute care orthopedic floor with a focus on postoperative orthopedic and trauma patient care. The role requires providing patient care during the night shift, following established protocols and maintaining professional standards within a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 07/27/2026.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS certification (AHA), 2 years of clinical experience, and completion of department-specific orientation.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical patient management.
- Float: Travel RN's are first to float if needed, which may occasionally include other medical-surgical floors.
- Additional Information:
- Unit: Orthopedic with 43 private beds, nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on day shifts and 1:5-6 on night shifts.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA).
- Typical patient diagnoses include a wide variety of medical surgical and postoperative orthopedic cases, as well as trauma cases with fractures.
- Staff includes a charge nurse and house supervisor on each shift; charge nurses may take assignments.
- Nurse aides/patient care technicians are present with ratios of 1:7-8.
- Telemetry equipment includes house-wide telemetry packs with Phillips monitors; RNs are required to interpret their own strips.
- No call or standby requirements.
- Dress code allows any color of scrubs with a professional appearance; tattoos and piercings must be covered.
- Unit-specific orientation duration is two days.
