Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Telemetry RN position is based in the Illinois area. This role involves providing nursing care on a dedicated neurology and neuroscience unit within an acute care setting. The nurse will be responsible for managing patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, and head injuries, with a focus on trauma experience and telemetry monitoring.

Job Details:

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
• Start Date: 08/17/2026
• Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications; minimum of 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or neuro units; must have level 1 trauma experience, previous travel experience (no first-time travelers), and prior neuro unit experience; experience with titrating heparin drips based on PTT; current NC license or eligibility; active IL license or confirmation that application has been initiated; active BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with telemetry monitoring; experience working with high flow therapy for COVID-19 patients; proficient in reading telemetry strips.
• Duties: Perform patient assessments, manage titratable drips such as heparin, troubleshoot high flow oxygen devices, read telemetry strips (Phillips monitors), and provide comprehensive neuro patient care.
• Staffing and Support: Charge nurse available 24/7, house supervisor on duty, nursing aides/patient care techs on unit with ratios of 1:9-10 on days and evenings, 1:10-12 at night.
• Additional Information: Orientation involves 2 days for computer and unit-specific training with a preceptor; float rotation includes general unit coverage, with skills competency required for outside unit assignments if floated outside of the neuro unit. No scrub color requirement; tattoos must be covered; no piercings besides ears.
