Job Summary:
Telemetry Nurse Peoria, Illinois. This clinical role involves delivering specialized patient care in an acute care setting on a 12-hour shift schedule. The position requires critical thinking, quick adaptability, and proficient knowledge of telemetry monitoring to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- Required Qualifications: RN licensure, BLS (AHA) certification, minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- Specialty: Telemetry
- Department: Cardio Thoracic
- Patient Ratio: Days 1:4-5
- Common Diagnoses: MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, esophagectomy (not from PACU), general medical overflow
- Skills: EKG interpretation, medication titration (mainly Cardizem and heparin), basic nursing skills
- Float: Float to other general medical units as needed
- Additional Responsibilities: Reading and interpreting telemonitor strips (Phillips monitors), troubleshooting CPAP/Bipap devices as required
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 0700-1930 and 1900-0730
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday for days; Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for nights)
- Holiday Rotation: Yes, includes Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day (days and nights)
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs, avoiding children/cartoon prints
- Orientation: Typically one shift, depending on prior experience at an OSF facility
- Other notes: Experience in EKG interpretation, medication titration, and telemetry monitoring required.
