Description
Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is based in Galesburg, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized patient care within a 6-bed ICU unit, focused on critical care for adult patients. The position requires delivering high-quality nursing services during night shifts, with responsibilities centered around managing complex clinical conditions in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois registered nurse license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, and a minimum of 2 years of critical care nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EKG interpretation, titration of vasopressors, ventilator management, and insulin drips.
- Department: Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 6 private beds.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA).
- Facility Notes: Local rate applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles of the facility. No specific color scrubs required.
- Additional Information:
- Floating to intermediate care may be required.
- Unit uses EPIC electronic charting system.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 or 1:5.
- Common diagnoses include sepsis, post-surgical bowel resection, COPD, DKA, and community-acquired pneumonia.
- Critical skills include EKG interpretation, vasopressor titration, ventilator management, and insulin drips.
- No holidays or weekend work are required aside from every other weekend, moving to every third weekend starting July 24th.
- Provider manages vasopressors, paralytics, BiCarb, and insulin drips with in-house hospitalist coverage.
