Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Longmont, Colorado. This opportunity involves providing specialized care for pre-term and critically ill neonatal patients within a Level 2 NICU setting. The role requires flexibility, clinical expertise in neonatal care, and the ability to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. All scheduled shifts are established by leadership for a six-week period, and flexibility is expected to support staffing needs.
- Required Qualifications: - Certifications: BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program). - Education: Valid nursing license. - Experience: Minimum two years of NICU experience. - Location: Must reside within 60 miles of the facility in Longmont, Colorado. - Years of Experience: 2 minimum.
- Preferred Qualifications: - Prior travel nursing experience is preferred.
- Float: There is a possibility of floating to St. Anthony North (26 miles away) if there is low census or staffing needs.
- Weekend Requirements: Six to nine weekend shifts in a six-week schedule.
- Holiday Requirements: May be asked to rotate into the holiday schedule.
- Call/Standby: Rare call or standby may be required during low census periods.
- Additional Notes: The NICU utilizes a Level 2 designation with six beds. Care includes managing hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, and pre-term babies needing to learn bottle feeding and weight gain. Nurses may also attend C-Section and vaginal deliveries, caring solely for the baby. Experience caring for postpartum mothers is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed. The team emphasizes safe staffing aligned with patient acuity. The unit operates in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, Epic. The minimum staffing involves at least two RNs or an RN and a tech. The unit employs a charge RN role for NICU leadership.
