Job Summary:
The Telemetry Medical Surgical Float nurse position is based in Waterloo, Iowa. This role involves providing specialized patient care across multiple units within the healthcare facility, with a focus on telemetry, medical-surgical, and progressive care. The position requires flexibility to float across various units as needed, delivering quality nursing services in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Waterloo, Iowa
  • Shift Time: Nights
  • Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 48 hours
  • Start Date: 08/10/2026
  • Experience Requirements: 0 years minimum of current Telemetry, Medical Surgical, or Progressive Care experience; at least 2 years of nursing experience preferred, especially for first time travelers
  • Certifications: Active American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS ACLS; Basic Life Support (BLS); De-Escalation Certificate (such as CPI, MAB, MOAB) preferred; NIH Stroke Scale certificate desirable but can be obtained during onboarding
  • License Requirements: Active Iowa or multistate license
  • Skills: Proficiency in reading EKG/ECG including rhythm strips and dysrhythmia reads; experience and comfort with drips such as heparin, insulin, Lasix, amiodarone, diltizem, digoxin
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC EMR experience required
  • Float Requirements: Nurse will be assigned to float across Med Surg, Behavioral Health (BH), Emergency Department (ED), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and post-procedural areas as needed, with primary care extending to Med Surg units based on census and staffing needs
  • Other: Must complete basic dysrhythmia assessment during onboarding with a passing score of 80%; must have a professional reference within the past 24 months; drivers license required
