Description

Job Summary:
Vascular Medical Surgical Nurse - Durango, Colorado. This position involves providing patient care on the Medical Surgical Vascular Floor within a fast-paced acute care setting. The role requires flexibility to float across various units and support a diverse patient population including adults with vascular, surgical, and general medical conditions.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, with 12-hour shifts.
  • Schedule: 7-7 shift, scheduled six weeks at a time by leadership. Travelers are expected to be flexible and assist with filling operational gaps. All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association; minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical (MS) Telemetry (Tele) experience; licensed to submit and work in Colorado; valid license or certification according to state requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior neuro experience is preferred.
  • Patient Population and Responsibilities: Care includes adults across various specialties such as Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Renal, Urology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psychiatry/Detox, ENT, and general medicine. The unit maintains nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5-6 based on acuity.
  • Other Details:
    • May be asked to float into other acuity levels, including ICU, Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown, and Medical Surgical Telemetry.
    • Unit orientation lasts 1-2 days with a preceptor.
    • Electronic charting system used: EPIC.
    • Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
    • No trauma level designation specified.
    • Dress code: Any color.
    • Rare call or standby requirements; may also be assigned to holiday rotations.
    • Unit assignment may be communicated via text message, daily sheet, or set schedule.
