Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Certified First Surgical Assistant in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. This role involves providing first assisting support for cardiothoracic and open heart surgical procedures within an adult and geriatric patient population. The position requires collaboration with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes during complex surgeries.
Job Details:
- Position: Certified First Surgical Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Location: 1086 Franklin Street, Johnstown, PA 15905
- Shift: Days, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Schedule: 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Start Date: 08/03/2026
- Required Qualifications: Successful candidates must have at least 2+ years of scrubbing and first assisting experience in open heart surgeries including CABG on and off pump, robotic, and laparoscopic lungs. Must hold valid certifications necessary for surgical assisting roles.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with open hearts, robotics, and laparoscopic procedures.
- Float: Float to main operating room when no cardiothoracic cases are scheduled.
- Additional Information: Candidate must complete all required screenings prior to start, including Pennsylvania state background checks and FBI fingerprinting. The role involves assisting in a high-level trauma level 1 facility focusing on complex cardiovascular surgeries.
