Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Nurse position is based in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized care for adult and geriatric oncology patients in an acute care hospital setting. The nurse will deliver chemotherapy administration, manage complex patient needs, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The assignment is scheduled to begin on 08/17/2026.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts during days, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license in hand or in application process; at least 1 year of nursing experience, including chemotherapy certification (ONCC/ONS); BLS certification; experience with chemotherapy administration and IV therapy/infusion skills such as port management, blood draws, and starting IVs.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience on a trauma Level I or Level II facility; charting systems experience (Cerner preferred); community hospital experience; travel experience.
  • Additional Information:
    • Will work every other weekend and be flexible to float within scope as needed.
    • RTO restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days off.
    • Must have active Illinois license or be in application process.
    • No on-call requirement.
    • The unit handles mixed general floor patients with oncology and hospice as primary specialties and performs chemotherapy administration.
    • The assignment requires adherence to facility compliance instructions, including modules completion, badge photo, and background checks prior to start.
    • Orientation includes 24 hours of virtual at-home training, with all Day 1 modules due by 4:00 PM CST.
