Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) for a position at a healthcare facility in Decatur, Illinois. The role involves providing specialized dialysis care in an acute care inpatient setting, supporting patients with conditions such as acute renal failure and acute kidney injury. The position offers a dynamic work environment with a focus on patient-centered care through a dedicated dialysis unit.
Job Details:
- Location: Decatur, Illinois
- Shift: Days, 4x10-hour shifts (0700-1730), with 2-3 overnight calls per week. Every third Saturday, on-call until Monday 0700 for emergent cases only. The unit is closed on Sundays, with only weekend nurse on call.
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, minimum of 36 hours guaranteed, with on-call responsibilities as needed.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license, minimum of 1 year of experience in acute care inpatient dialysis, certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner charting system, trauma level II experience, and community hospital background.
- Additional Information: The role requires proficiency in dialysis treatment skills such as blood and blood product administration, vascular access management, and troubleshooting machine alarms including arterial and venous pressure, blood leak detection, and conductivity alarms. Candidates must have experience with equipment, including B. Braun Dialog, and be capable of cannulating AV fistula and grafts. The position involves delivering patient care for conditions like hyperkalemia, fluid overload, and other symptoms associated with dialysis patients. The first day of orientation is virtual, with a focus on completing required modules, and candidates must adhere to compliance procedures including background checks, licensure verification, and module completion.
- Additional Notes: Floating within scope is not required. Local candidates are accepted; no minimum experience beyond 1 year is necessary. RTO restrictions include ideally no more than 5 days.
