Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurse position in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care in a neurocritical care unit, focusing on neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures, and management of neuro patients including stroke, TBI, and neurosurgery cases. The position requires adaptability to a rotating shift schedule and the ability to manage a high acuity patient population.

Job Details:

• Location: Wausau, WI
• Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day/Night variables)
• Guaranteed Hours Per Week: 48 hours
• Start Date: 08/03/2026
• Certifications: Wisconsin RN License, BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC), NIHSS all required
• Minimum Experience: 2 years minimum with 1 travel assignment preferred, background in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU with strong assessment skills in Neuro required
• Charting Experience: EPIC preferred
• Unit Information: 8-bed Neuro unit caring for stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients; experience with EVDs and ICP monitoring preferred
• Primary Procedures: Neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures including line placement, intubation, bolt and drain placements with Neurosurgery, and care for Neuro interventional patients in the future
• Additional Information: The unit will float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units, with possible float to other inpatient units. No on-call or call-back required.
• Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts, 48 hours minimum per week.
• Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday.
• Notes: The position includes flexibility for low census hours, with possible 4 or 8-hour shifts. During flu season, declination of vaccination requires mask-wearing at all times, per policy.
