Job Summary:
The Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) specialist position is located in Sacramento, California. This role involves working in a highly busy, fast-paced operating room environment with a focus on cardiac surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) and valve procedures. The position requires confidence in CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience, with the working hours consisting of 10-hour shifts and a minimum of 40 hours per week. The assignment start date is scheduled for 08/04/2026.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 10-hour varied shifts plus call; minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (American Heart Association) certification, minimum of 2 years of CVOR experience, and ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a busy, fast-paced open heart surgical environment.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit conducts a profile review; candidates need 2 supervisor references, including 1 within the last 12 months and 1 within 3 years of work.
  • Current valid drivers license needed at the time of submittal to verify legal name.
  • EMR system used is Cerner.
  • No scrub color provided; strong CVOR skills essential.
  • No ventilator experience required, but must be able to read EKG strips.
  • Surgeons are available 24/7, with call overnight and weekends; 1 weekend call per month.
  • No regular weekend schedule but required to cover 3 weekend days per month.
  • Orientation includes 1-2 days in the OR with a preceptor.
  • Common diagnoses include all forms of heart surgery; thoracic procedures are not included.
  • No trauma level designation listed.
  • Charting system used is Cerner.
  • Minimum experience required is 2 years in CVOR.
  • The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
  • Shift start date is 08/04/2026.
