Description

Job Summary:
The ICU Float Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in Lufkin, Texas. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a dynamic environment, with floating between critical care and stepdown units. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting, supporting patient care across multiple units.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM 7:00 AM; 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as an RN, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, a minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience, and the ability to titrate drips including Levophed, Amiodarone, Heparin, Precedex, Propofol, Cardene, Nitro, Neosynephrine, Dopamine, etc.
  • Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Float
  • Experience: 3+ years of critical care experience required
  • Floating: Float rotation may be required, including transitioning between ICU and PCU units and other departments as necessary
  • Unit Details:
    • Critical care beds: 24 in ICU, 26 in PCU
    • Patient ratios: 2:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity), 4:1 on PCU
    • Common patient diagnoses include post CABG or PCI cardiac patients, sepsis, DKA, respiratory failure
  • Additional Information:
    • Critical care experience strongly preferred
    • RNs are required to titrate specific drips
    • No Aids in ICU; 1-2 Aids in PCU per shift
    • Intensivist available during daytime shifts
    • RT equipment includes vents, BiPaps, Airvo
    • Bedside monitors and monitor bank on site
    • New employee orientation includes shift-specific training on each ICU and PCU
    • Charting system used is Paragon
    • Cancellations: 4 shifts per 13-day assignment, 3 shifts for assignments under 13 weeks
