Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse opportunity in Tacoma, Washington. This position involves caring for critically ill neonates, including premature infants as young as 22 weeks gestation, with a focus on high-risk deliveries, respiratory support, and complex care plans. The role requires a compassionate team player with a strong clinical background and the flexibility to work nights.
Job Details
- Position: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse
- Location: Tacoma, Washington
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/10/2026
- Required Qualifications: Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Washington state nursing license; minimum of 2 years of experience in Level III-IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units; experience with respiratory support for vents, trachs, G-tubes, NG/OG tubes, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, and care plan development.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with surgical patients and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
- Additional Information: This role may involve occasional float to emergency room to act as a sitter, but rarely. The NICU is part of a pediatric hospital attached to an adult hospital, featuring private rooms and a census typically around 50 infants. Block scheduling is possible but not guaranteed.
