Description

Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Nurse Specialist located in Bloomington, Illinois. This role involves providing care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions in an acute inpatient setting, including conditions such as respiratory, cardiac, and neuro patients. The position requires a dedicated and experienced professional who can adapt quickly to clinical demands in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts with rotating nights, weekends, and holiday obligations.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a similar setting; licensed to practice in Illinois.
  • Specialty: Step Down Unit.
  • Schedule: Employees will work three 12-hour shifts per week, with rotation through nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Float: Travel Registered Nurses are first to float and may work in Intensive Care Units if they have extensive ICU experience, otherwise may float to General Medical floors, taking whatever assignment is necessary for that level of care.
  • Bed Size/Number of Rooms: 32 beds, all private rooms.
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio: 3-4 patients per nurse.
  • Dress Code: Scrubs of any color.
  • Training & Orientation: One day with the education team and one day floor orientation, tailored to inpatient acute care.
  • Start Date: 08/03/2026.
