Description
Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in step down care is needed for a position in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory, cardiac, neuro, and surgical patients, on a dedicated step down unit. The position offers opportunity for experienced nurses to work in a dynamic acute care environment with advanced patient monitoring and ventilator management.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, working days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS certification (AHA); minimum of 1 year of RN experience in a step down or ICU setting; required certifications as specified.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification; ICU/Intermediate nursing experience with trach and ventilator experience; experience with titrating drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors.
- Responsibilities: Care for 3 patients with complex medical conditions including COPD, CHF, sepsis, renal issues, neurological and surgical patients; administer and titrate infusion drips; read bedside monitors and strips; participate in unit orientation and daily staffing coordination.
- Additional Information: The unit has 20 beds, with 8 private rooms and semi-private rooms; nurse-to-patient ratio typically 3:1; ICU/Intermediate experience required; floating to other units may be required based on experience; scrubs of any color are acceptable; unit-specific orientation includes EPIC training and on-floor shadowing.
