Description

Job Summary:
The operating room technician (ORT) is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for assisting the nursing staff in reception, patient care, and transportation within the perioperative region. This role involves maintaining equipment, supporting surgical procedures, and ensuring a sterile environment to facilitate smooth surgical operations.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; BLS Basic Life Support certification; Ability to work different shifts if required; Ability to serve in a fast-paced environment; Knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation practices and emergency response protocols; Effective communication skills in English; Ability to learn and evaluate new equipment and procedures quickly; Knowledge of infection control policies and aseptic techniques; Ability to problem-solve effectively using appropriate resources; Facilities experience in patient transportation, equipment maintenance, and supply management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with surgical procedures and operating room protocols; Familiarity with hospital or healthcare environment operations.
  • Additional Information: The role supports quality control, safety standards, and departmental policies. Responsibilities include handling surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining infection control standards, and participating in quality improvement activities. The technician will also assist in patient preparation, transport, and equipment sterilization, contributing to a safe and efficient surgical environment. Proper documentation and adherence to hospital protocols are essential.
