Description
Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in Postpartum Floor care is sought for a facility located in Tacoma, Washington. The position involves providing high-quality nursing care in a postpartum and labor and delivery unit with a focus on newborn transition and post-delivery management. This role supports patient recovery and safety during the critical postpartum period, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient comfort.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, with a schedule of 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Required Qualifications: Active BLS certification, COVID-19 vaccine, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; minimum of 2 years of experience in postpartum or labor and delivery nursing; valid license to submit; willingness to wait for licensure validation
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with newborn transition, magnesium management, and titrating drips
- Responsibilities: Managing antepartum/high-risk beds, postpartum and triage beds; support for high-acuity patients such as those with preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, high BMI, multiples, substance abuse, and other obstetric conditions; monitoring of electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) systems; collaborating with OB/neonatologists, advanced practice providers, and in-house specialists; ensuring accurate charting using EPIC system; performing postpartum assessments and patient education; responding to clinical emergencies as needed
- Additional Information: The unit maintains a high standards of clinical care following AWHONN guidelines, with 24/7 in-house OB/neonatology and advanced practice providers; RN titration of drips such as magnesium is required; tele monitoring is not utilized on this unit; unit-specific orientation will be provided; cancellation policy permits up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment; scrubs are required or personal scrubs may be worn; the unit uses Centricity Perinatal as the system for electronic fetal monitoring
