Description

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Birmingham, Alabama. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a specialized hospital setting, following established care plans, and supervising ancillary staff. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while emphasizing patient and staff safety.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, at least two (2) years of bedside clinical experience in settings such as Stepdown, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC); must be able to start by 08/24/2026.
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or comparable units preferred.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of nursing assessment, patient education, discharge planning, and documentation standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within interdisciplinary teams and to lead or supervise ancillary nursing personnel.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications or specialized training related to cardiology or telemetry units are advantageous.
  • The RN will work in a hospital environment that prioritizes safety, team collaboration, and patient-centered care, following all safety policies and guidelines.
  • The role may include responsibilities such as participating in patient rehabilitation programs, supporting clinical decision-making, and contributing to team-building activities.
  • Active professional development through continuing education and self-study is encouraged.
  • Additional Information: The RN is expected to participate in safety initiatives, monitor supplies, and promote quality patient outcomes while maintaining cost-effective practices.
