Description

Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position located in Corpus Christi, Texas. This role involves providing critical nursing care in a busy emergency department with a focus on assessment, medication administration, wound care, and other standard emergency procedures. The position supports a team dedicated to delivering timely, high-quality patient care across varying acuity levels.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shift hours, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must have current EMS (Emergency Medical Services) certification, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in emergency nursing. Valid licenses in the state of Texas are required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with certifications such as Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will be prioritized. Additional skills include Critical Incident Preparedness (CPI) and more than two years of emergency department experience.
  • Responsibilities: Conduct assessments, document patient information, administer medications, perform wound care, splinting, IV management, urine collection, lab draws, and care for patients with ESI (Emergency Severity Index) levels 5 through 1.
  • Schedule: 12-hour days shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Attend mandatory shift huddles at 7am and 7pm unless providing critical care at that time. EMTALA training is mandatory. The unit uses Meditech electronic medical records. Scrub color preferred is royal blue; team jerseys for team spirit are encouraged. The department values outstanding patient satisfaction and employee engagement, with a focus on providing timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients. Transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital highlights ongoing advancements in service.
