Description

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry at a facility located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This position involves providing comprehensive care to general and medical patients, including those with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, infections, and wounds. The RN will work night shifts, ensuring quality patient care in a fast-paced, academic hospital setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift hours with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical experience, and at least 0 years of additional experience in similar roles
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Transitional Care Unit patients, general MedSurg cases including CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, wounds, and potential general surgeries.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5
  • Clinical Skills: Trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation (strips checking during shift), central line blood draws.
  • Non-titrating Drips (required): Heparin, Lasix, Protonix.
  • Support within Department: One CNA per unit, charge RN coverage, access to RT, hospitalist, and resident staff 24/7, bedside telemetry monitoring with central station.
  • Technology/Equipment: EPIC electronic medical record system, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, floating within scope of practice at the hospital.
  • Orientation: Two shifts on the unit for orientation, conducted by the New Employee Orientation (NEO) program.
  • Additional Notes: Scrub color: royal blue; free parking available; unit culture details pending.
