Description

Job Summary:
The Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Specialty Nurse is an RN providing specialized surgical patient care within an active OR environment. Based in Palo Alto, California, this role involves assisting with open-heart procedures, ensuring adherence to clinical best practices, and supporting patient recovery throughout their surgical experience. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital setting with a focus on advanced cardiac surgery.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shift with 12-hour shifts; minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) license; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university preferred; at least 1 year of experience in Operating Room Open Heart specialty; current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers; effective communication skills in English
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in cardiac surgery or open-heart procedures; certifications related to perioperative nursing or cardiovascular specialties
  • Additional Information: The nurse will perform all steps of perioperative patient care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation during cardiac surgeries. Responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, monitoring patient safety, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires quick response to emergent situations, adherence to safety standards, and active participation in team meetings and educational activities.
