Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) position in Illinois. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a busy ER setting with 16 beds and 12 private trauma bays. The RN will be responsible for handling a diverse patient population with common diagnoses such as sepsis, CHF, pneumonia, suicidal ideation, and abdominal pain. The position requires the ability to work night shifts and adapt to a dynamic environment.
Job Details:
- Location: ALTON, Illinois
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; active BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA); minimum of 2 years of emergency room experience; DHA, NIHSS, ENPC, or other relevant certifications preferred; 0 years of experience if explicitly stated.

- Trauma Level: Not a trauma facility
- Beds/Trauma Bays: 16 beds, 12 private trauma bays
- Triage: Yes, with a separate triage area available for staff.
- Psych/Seclusion Rooms: 1 ER room made safe
- Security: Security personnel in-house 24/7, intermittently in ER.
- Patient Volume: Approximately 65 patients per day
- Staffing: 24/7 ER physician coverage, 14 hours mid-level coverage daily; charge nurse on duty 24/7
- Additional Staff: Nurse aides/EMTs/Paramedics on each shift, assisting with procedures and patient care activities.
- RT: Respiratory Therapists manage all equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.; available 24/7.
- Imaging: X-ray in ER and CT outside ER doors, with radiology transport for unstable patients or stroke codes.
- Lab Services: RNs and techs draw labs; RNs troubleshoot equipment such as vents and high-flow oxygen devices.
- Float: No float rotation unless explicitly agreed upon at hire.
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; uniforms not provided.
- Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation.
- Holidays: Every other holiday, including Memorial, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.
- Weekends: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday or Friday/Saturday).

- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA).
- Experience required: 2 years ER experience preferred; minimum experience explicitly specified as 0.
- Additional notes: Self-scheduling available, block scheduling if possible.
