Description
Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position located in Seattle, Washington. This role involves working in a high-risk, high-volume obstetric environment, providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns during delivery and postpartum. The position requires expertise in electronic fetal monitoring and neonatal care, with a focus on safety and efficient patient management in a fast-paced setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with a compact license in hand at submission; 3-5 years of experience in high acuity and high pace environments, including high risk obstetric experiences; current supervision references; proof of required certifications including BLS, NRP; ability to circulate for Cesarean sections and provide newborn care (eyes, thighs, assessments, injections).
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications.
- Float: Required to float between Maternal / Obstetric (OB) and related postpartum units, may work across sister facilities supporting maternal and neonatal care.
- Additional Information: Functions during delivery as the Baby Nurse, caring for newborns until transfer to postpartum. Must have recent experience with electronic fetal monitoring, high risk deliveries, and neonatal assessments. Will be responsible for providing newborn care including eye ointments, Vitamin K injections, and assessments. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in these skills to be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in high acuity obstetric settings, with experience in high-risk deliveries preferred.
- Certifications: BLS*, NRP*, ACLS (preferred), AWHONN Advanced (preferred).
- Languages / Systems: Experience with EPIC electronic fetal monitoring system preferred.
- Travel and Scheduling: Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays, work every other weekend and holidays as needed, and adhere to pre-approved time off policies.
- Additional Requirements: Must include response to previous employment with a healthcare facility if applicable, and provide two recent references covering at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Miscellaneous: Candidates are expected to circulate during delivery, perform neonatal assessments, and administer necessary injections; refusal to perform these tasks may disqualify candidacy.
