Job Summary
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position involves providing direct patient care in a dedicated labor and delivery unit within a healthcare facility. The role requires a compassionate and organized professional to support women through labor, delivery, and postpartum periods, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification, NRN (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification, 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery.
- Preferred Qualifications: Ability to scrub in procedures, proficiency in interpreting fetal strips, starting IVs, drawing labs, and vag exams.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: The unit features 2 triage rooms, 10 labor rooms, and 2 operating rooms. Staff includes RN, scrub tech, secretaries, and charge nurses working on both day and night shifts. Typical procedures include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, amniocentesis, amnioinfusions, and IUPC/FSE placements. The unit utilizes fetal monitors, IUPC, FSE, fluid warmer, IV pumps, and epidural pumps. The electronic medical record system is CPN and Meditech.
