Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Neurological currently seeks a qualified neuro ICU registered nurse for a 13-week contract position beginning on 08/24/2026. This role involves working in a specialized 8-bed neuro critical care unit with a focus on stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injuries, and neurosurgical patients. The successful candidate will provide neuro assessments and perform basic bedside ICU procedures, including line placement and intubation, while demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a dynamic clinical environment. The position requires a commitment to high-quality patient care within a fast-paced neuro ICU setting.

Job Details:

  • Location: 333 PINE RIDGE BLVD, WAUSAU, WI 54401
  • Position: ICU Neuro Registered Nurse
  • Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Neurological
  • Schedule: 12-hour day/night variable shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week
  • Certifications: Wisconsin RN License, BLS (American Heart Association or ARC), ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC), NIHSS required
  • Minimum Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate, minimum of 2 years of experience, prior travel assignment preferred, neuro ICU and/or Med/Surg ICU background with strong assessment skills in neuro required, charting experience in EPIC required
  • Float: Float rotation allowed between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit, with potential float to other inpatient units as needed
  • Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday
  • Additional Information: The unit is a specialized neuro ICU caring for stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgical patients. Familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring is advantageous. This role involves managing neuro assessments and bedside ICU procedures, including bolt and drain placements in collaboration with neurosurgery. Candidates should be social, independent, and capable of managing change efficiently.
