Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Des Moines, Iowa. This position involves delivering high-quality patient care and supervising nursing staff, including Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, and ensuring positive patient outcomes through effective collaboration and communication.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification prior to the first shift; valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification prior to the first shift (if applicable); a minimum of 2 years of bedside clinical experience; degree or certification as required for the RN role; qualified to work in Iowa.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience within a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or similar step-down setting; additional certifications related to acute care.
• Additional Information: Performs nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission, develops individualized care plans, and documents all clinical activities accurately and promptly. Participates in patient rehabilitation programs, discharge planning, and patient education. Ensures safety protocols are followed, including safe patient handling and infection control. Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support patient safety and quality care. Demonstrates leadership by providing direction and supervision to ancillary staff and assumes charge responsibilities after orientation. Maintains open communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs. Engages in ongoing professional development and contributes to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
