Description

Job Summary:
The healthcare professional, specializing in step down unit care, is responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a hospital setting. This role involves interpreting electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythms and managing patients during life-threatening emergencies. The position requires supervisory skills to delegate responsibilities to ancillary personnel and adheres to established clinical policies. This opportunity is suited for a registered nurse with a focus on cardiac and telemetry care.

Job Details:

  • Location: San Luis Obispo, California
  • Shift Time: Nights (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; current RN license in the state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Preferred Qualifications: Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Course; Critical Care Course; 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience in the last 2 years
  • Essential Functions: Provides nursing interventions in both stable and emergent patient situations, including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care for indwelling catheters, and use of medical equipment. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages patients during emergencies. Verifies alarm settings, manages post-procedure patients requiring femoral sheath removal, and cares for patients with pacemakers or AICDs. Participates in multidisciplinary care planning and reports patient responses accurately. Delegates tasks based on competency, performs safety and quality checks, and documents care efficiently. Demonstrates clinical judgment in managing telemetry patients and participates in ongoing quality improvements.
