Description

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical with Telemetry in Macon, Georgia. This position involves providing patient care on an inpatient Med/Surg unit with telemetry monitoring, managing various diagnoses such as cardiac, post-surgical, and chronic illnesses. The role requires adherence to hospital protocols and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, working 48 hours per week, with weekend rotation of 5-6 weekends out of 12 on a 6-week cycle. No call required.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification; ACLS preferred. Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Med/Surg/Telemetry RN. Six months of EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system experience required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Certification in medical-surgical nursing is a plus. Skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, IV maintenance, glucometer use, cardiac rhythm monitoring, and titration of drips such as insulin, heparin, and other infusion medications.
  • Support within the Department: CNA support for vitals, blood glucose checks, patient safety activities; support staff assist with patient mobility and basic care. Unit secretary available during daytime hours; on-call secretaries after hours.
  • Technology/Equipment: Experience with EPIC EMR system, IV pumps, Phillips monitors, Nova glucose strips, vital sign monitors, and unit-specific equipment such as VS3 monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips.
  • Orientation: 1 day of orientation plus 2 days for departmental onboarding.
  • Floating Requirements: Traveler may be required to float to all Med/Tele units and the Emergency Department when needed.
  • Additional Notes: Scrub color for RN is navy; parking is free. The unit has a busy, team-oriented culture with a focus on collaborative patient care.
