Job Summary:
This ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing position is located in Galesburg, Illinois. The role involves providing specialized care for critically ill patients in a 6-bed ICU with private rooms. Candidates will be responsible for managing patients with diagnoses such as sepsis, post-surgical bowel resection, COPD, and DKA, among others. The position requires working night shifts with a schedule of 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

• Location: Galesburg, Illinois
• Shift Schedule: 12-hour nights, approximately 36 hours per week
• Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) from the American Heart Association
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois Registered Nurse license or confirmation that application has been initiated, two years of ICU or general ICU background experience with titration of vasopressors, vent care, insulin drips, CPR certification, familiarity with EKG interpretation, and ability to manage vasopressors, paralytics, BiCarb, and insulin drips.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU or ICU-equivalent setting.
• Department: Medical Surgical ICU with 6 beds, private rooms
• Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 2 patients
• Equipment and Technology: EMR system is EPIC; vents, BiPAP, CPAP available; telemedicine managed by a telemetry technician; 24/7 pharmacy coverage; the hospitalist is in-house from 12 PM to 7 AM with e-ICU support.
• Unit Notes: Telemetry is managed by a telemetry technician on the unit. Vasopressors, paralytics, BiCarb, and insulin drips are administered by staff.
• Additional Requirements: Last four digits of the clinicians SSN, active Illinois RN license or confirmation of application in process, understanding of facilitys drug-free policy, and requested time off confirmation.
• Additional Notes: Unit requires EKG interpretation skills; orientation includes two shifts; float to intermediate care if needed; no specific scrub color required.
• Holidays: May be scheduled to work if falling on their scheduled weekend.
