Description
Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is located in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized critical care for patients with conditions such as strokes, ventriculostomies, and post-craniectomy recovery. The successful candidate will work in a high-acuity environment, delivering complex patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Ventriculostomy experience, NIH Stroke Scale Certification, experience with ventilators, arterial lines, central lines, tPA administration, and acute stroke management.
- Additional Information: Candidates must have a thorough understanding of ICU procedures such as titrating drips per physician orders. The unit maintains a patient ratio of 1:2 and 1:3 for intermediate care; nurse aides/patient care techs assist on the unit. Registered nurses are expected to troubleshoot and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitors, with telemetry techs staffed on every shift. The unit has a charge nurse on each shift, with 24/7 house supervisor coverage. Floating to other hospital units is required, with staff expected to adapt to various patient care settings. Orientation includes 20 hours of unit-specific training. The assignment begins on 08/17/2026.
