Job Summary:
Licensed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized neurocritical care to patients with neurological conditions such as ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, and neuro-intensive diagnoses. The nurse will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in a Level III Trauma Center with comprehensive stroke center designation.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Shift times are from 07:00 PM to 07:00 AM or 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM, in six-week cycle rotations.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Wisconsin Nursing License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Stroke Scale certification (NIHSS)
  • At least 4 years of clinical ICU experience, with a focus on neurocritical care preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration (CVVH/CRRT) and External Ventricular Drain (EVD) management.
• Support within the Department:
  • Critical Care Nurse Practitioners: 2 on Day shifts
  • Hospitalists and Intensivists available 24/7, with additional support from Respiratory Therapists, Phlebotomists, and Telemetry staff.
• Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: EPIC experience required
  • Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors, Medtronic EVDs, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
• Floating: Support areas include the Emergency Department holding area, other Intensive Care Units such as Medical, Surgical, Coronary, and Pediatric ICUs, as well as Medical-Surgical units and Post-Anesthesia Care Units.
• Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation provided.
• Other Notes:
  • Scrub color: Solid, no graphics or logos

  • The unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork and evidence-based nursing practices.
  • All staff, including travelers, adhere to a fatigue policy limiting work hours to 60 per week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts.
