Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse - Freeport, Illinois. This position involves providing emergency care to a diverse patient population in a community hospital setting. The role includes managing patients with a wide range of conditions, from minor injuries to critical emergencies, while collaborating with a dedicated healthcare team.

Job Details:

• Shift and Schedule: Dayshift, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 08/10/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Illinois licensure required to submit; Certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, NIHSS; a minimum of 3 years of ER nursing experience; moderate sedation and lumbar puncture experience preferred; flexibility with rotating start times.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with critical care drips; neonates to geriatrics; managing longer patient stays due to weather conditions; experience in community hospital emergency settings.
• Additional Information: Provides emergency care within a department with a 24-bed Emergency Department, triage area utilizing ESI rating system, and four behavioral health safe rooms. Security is in-house 24/7. The unit handles approximately 60-80 patients per 24 hours with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, adjusted based on acuity. Staff includes charge nurses, house supervisors, ED techs (CNA/EMT/Paramedic), RTs, radiology staff, and monitor techs. The team collaborates to deliver comprehensive emergency services, including blood draws, wound care, transport, and vital assessments on a variety of patient diagnoses.
• Floating/Additional Requirements: May float to other units such as Medical Surgery or Telemetry if needed; all staff are expected to be flexible and adaptable across shifts and units.
