Description

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Mother/Baby Couplet Care Nurse to join a maternal infant unit located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive care for postpartum mothers and newborns, including vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and antepartum patients. The position offers opportunities to work in a busy, high-volume environment with a focus on family-centered care and patient education.

Job Details:

  • Location: Richmond, Virginia
  • Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and apheresis nursing certification from the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). At least 2 years of labor experience is required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: More than 2 years of labor experience with a history working in a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) unit with high birth volumes.
  • Typical Procedures: Vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, antepartum patient care, newborn care, postpartum care.
  • Shift Details: 12-hour daytime shifts, starting on 09/07/2026.
  • Additional Information: The unit operates with a staff of 71, including day shift labor nurses, nursery nurses, OB technicians, secretaries, leadership, and educators. Patient ratios are approximately 1:1 for labor, and 5-6:1 for postpartum and nursery patients. The unit utilizes GE fetal monitors and Meditech electronic medical records. Nurses are required to wear navy blue scrubs, with MIU nurses having pink badges for infant security. Every third weekend of work is expected, with 12 hours of on-call duty in a four-week rotation.
