Job Summary
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves providing specialized care in a dedicated step-down unit focused on adult patients. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and maintaining clinical excellence during night shifts.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step-down units highly preferred; Oncology experience is also advantageous but not required.
- Float: Float to other medical and surgical units may be required; float assignments remain at the same level of care.
- Additional Information:
- Orientation includes two days of unit-specific training.
- Ability to manage titratable drips such as insulin and Cardizem, along with common medications including chemotherapy, Heparin, and Protonix.
- Equipment encountered may include high-flow oxygen devices, BiPAP machines, and ventilators.
- EMR systems utilized: Epic.
- IV pumps include Alaris models and Lyko lifts are available in even-numbered rooms with additional lift equipment available.
- Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians.
- Emphasis on providing compassionate, respectful care to a diverse patient population, with patient experience prioritized through hourly rounding and bedside shift reports.
- The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
- Shift start date: 08/31/2026.
