Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) nurse position in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves working in an 8-bed neuro-critical care unit with a focus on stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgery patients. The nurse will provide neuro assessments and perform fundamental bedside ICU procedures, supporting patients with complex neurological needs.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: WI registered nurse license, BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA or ARC, NIHSS certification, minimum of 2 years of experience with a strong background in medical/surgical intensive care units and/or neuro intensive care units. Experience in neuro assessment and familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a neuro interventionalist, strong assessment skills, resilience, and ability to manage change effectively.
• Float: Float rotation may be required between neuro critical care and medical/surgical intensive care units, as well as other inpatient units as needed.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include neuro assessments, basic ICU procedures such as line placement and intubation, bedside bolt and drain placements, and caring for neuro interventional patients. The unit operates on a flexible schedule during low census periods, which may involve working only 4 or 8 hours of a shift, and may include weekends and holidays on an alternating basis. During flu season, declined vaccination requires mask-wearing at all times following facility policy.
