Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an ORT (Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician) for a day shift position in Bakersfield, California. This entry-level role requires a general understanding of surgical procedures and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team. The successful candidate will assist with preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative duties to ensure high standards of patient care and safety.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Day shift with 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, graduation from an accredited surgical technology training program, and possession of a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) card or ability to acquire within 60 days of employment.
• Strong working knowledge of aseptic technique. Demonstrated competence in all designated surgical sub-specialties. Ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures. Experience with robotic surgery, vascular procedures, and sterile field maintenance. Knowledge of surgical trauma and principles of surgical technology, along with understanding of legal, ethical, and moral responsibilities in surgical settings.
• Additional Information: Performs preoperative duties such as patient identification, assistance with transport and positioning, gathering supplies, performing surgical scrub, and sterile field setup. During procedures, assists with instrumentation, supplies medications and maintains sterile technique. Postoperative duties include preparing dressings, assisting with transport, and ensuring all instrumentation is returned and sterilized per departmental protocols. Actively participates in all phases of the surgical process, including debriefing and quality improvement practices. Assists with surgical suite turnover, monitors patient comfort, maintains records, and supports patient safety protocols.
