Description
Job Summary:
The labor and delivery specialty nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care within the labor and delivery department at a healthcare facility. This role involves supporting antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients, as well as stable newborns and neonates requiring stabilization for transport. The nurse must be capable of managing all phases of care from triage through postpartum, with a strong focus on fetal monitoring and neonatal stabilization, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and promoting positive patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/30/2026
- Required Qualifications: Graduate of School of Nursing; current California State License as a Registered Nurse; BLS certification upon hire and ongoing; NRP certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing; intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing; BFHI lactation education required or within 6 months of hire; interpersonal and analytical skills; basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Intranet
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in labor and delivery for at least one year or completed extended orientation meeting all expectations; experience stabilizing neonates; comfort with fetal monitoring and neonatal care; ability to understand, read, and write English clearly
- Additional Information: The RN will render collaborative care following departmental protocols, effectively delegate and direct team members, and communicate efficiently with patients, families, and healthcare team members. The role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. This position requires understanding the lifespan needs of patients, including neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
