Job Summary
A Certified First Surgical Assistant is sought for an assignment in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves assisting in various surgical procedures within an acute inpatient operating room setting. The role requires being available for scheduled shifts, call rotations, and floating within scope to meet facility needs, supporting perioperative clinical teams to deliver optimal patient care.

Job Details

  • Position / Specialty: Certified First Surgical Assistant
  • Shift: 06:15 AM 04:45 PM (10 hours)
  • Schedule: Days, minimum of 40 hours per week
  • Start Date: 08/31/2026
  • Location: Springfield, Illinois
  • Required Qualifications: BLS certification, Illinois license (active and in hand at time of submission), 3-4 years relevant experience in acute inpatient operating room, CVOR, outpatient OR, with experience in cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and endoscopic procedures.
  • Additional Qualifications: Experience with cardiovascular surgeries such as coronary artery bypass grafts and mitral valve replacements, vascular procedures including abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, and femoral popliteal bypass graft; endoscopic procedures like bronchoscopy, EGD, laparoscopic assisted cases, peg tube placement/exchange; trauma experience including amputations and gunshot/stab wounds; equipment proficiency with case carts, drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources.
  • Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 1-2 times per week and every 3-4 weekends.
  • Float Requirement: Will float as needed within scope to meet facility needs.
  • RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days.
  • Experience in trauma level I & II settings preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Candidate must review and confirm compliance requirements, including fingerprinting and module completion, prior to start.
