Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position is based in Fargo, North Dakota. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult medical-surgical patients in a 32-bed inpatient unit within a large hospital setting. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, demonstrate full scope of nursing skills, and adapt care practices to meet patient needs across various conditions, including behavioral disturbances and post-admission procedures.
Job Details:
- Location: Fargo, North Dakota
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, rotating between day and night; schedule includes every other weekend and holiday. Rotation may involve working three weeks of days followed by three weeks of nights, with potential variations based on unit needs. Self-scheduling is permitted with guaranteed days off as per contract; shift swaps among staff are encouraged to support scheduling preferences.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds, along with BLS (American Heart Association) certification, licensure in North Dakota or a compact state, Epic electronic medical record experience, and Level 1 trauma experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a busy hospital environment, proficient in Epic EMR, and comfortable floating across various medical-surgical units within the Fargo campus.
- Additional Information: The unit utilizes electronic monitoring equipment including Philips monitors and bladder scanners. The nurse is expected to provide safe patient mobility with gait belts and walkers and manage a patient load with a 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio during day shifts and 6:1 during night shifts. The unit has a diverse patient population, including behavioral health admissions and adult medical-surgical cases.
