Description

Job Summary:
The Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) registered nurse position is located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized inpatient nursing care on a short stay observation unit. The position requires flexibility to float across inpatient units, including IMC and CMU, and offers a dynamic clinical environment focused on patient stabilization and recovery.

Job Details:

Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12-hour variable shifts (7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.), with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse license, BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross), NIHSS highly preferred, and an EKG exam during compliance. A minimum of 3 years of experience with at least one travel assignment is required. Proven charting experience with EPIC is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications: Background experience in observation units, or medical-surgical/telemetry units, with the ability to read and interpret strips. Strong clinical judgment, resilience, adaptability, and excellent communication skills are desired.
Additional Information: The unit has 8 beds, with a patient ratio of 1:4. Typical admissions include anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre/post-op urology and GI patients, with average stays up to 48 hours. Staff must manage a high volume of admissions and discharges and demonstrate flexibility, independence, and collaboration skills. Scrub color is flexible. During flu season, declination of flu and COVID vaccinations requires mask wear at all times, in accordance with policy.
