Job Summary
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) nurse opportunity in Houston, Texas. This role involves providing specialized critical care to pediatric patients in a busy and collaborative unit environment. The position requires adaptability and a supportive approach to team-based patient care.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS (Basic Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Education requirements, degree requirements, and location requirements are satisfied with current credentials. No prior experience is necessary, but a minimum of one year is typical.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification is preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required between NICU level 1 or 2 units only.
- Additional Information: The unit predominantly handles procedures such as cleft palate repair, appendectomy, chest tube management, lumbar punctures, seizure management, and non-invasive cardiology. Services include neuro, orthopedic, general surgical, and thoracic cases such as thoracotomy, thoracoscopy, and pectus bar implants. The team values a supportive and collaborative personality. The unit operates on a full team environment where everyone assists each other, fostering a positive working atmosphere.
