Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) professional needed at a non-profit community hospital in a Level III trauma center. The role involves providing advanced emergency care for a diverse patient population from neonates to geriatrics, with high acuity cases including trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and substance use disorder. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, working nights with shifts lasting 12 hours, and the ability to adapt to a busy, fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts from 7p to 7a, 7p-7a, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), at least 2 years of experience in a large volume Emergency Department with high acuity patients, and the ability to pass a hospital triage test.
- Skills required include barcode scanning for medication administration, managing medication drips, blood product administration, triage experience, and procedural skills such as setting up chest tubes, arterial lines, assisting with trauma and code cases, splinting, bipap/ventilation, and a good understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI). Pediatric emergency medicine experience and Point of Care Labs familiarity are highly preferred.
- Patient Types: Neonate to geriatric, including trauma, stroke, cardiac, behavioral health, and high-acuity pediatric cases.
- Patient Ratios: 1:3-5 based on acuity; operational zones including fast track with 13 beds.
- EMR: Epic (required).
- Float: No.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend, with rare back-to-back weekends.

- End Date: 01/16/2027
- Additional Information: The ER is the busiest in the state, seeing an average of 200-250 patients daily across 34 ED beds. The hospital employs zone-based setup for emergency care. Flexibility required for on-call and shift changes, though on-call is not required.
