Description

Job Summary:
The pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) nurse position is based in San Francisco, California. This role involves providing specialized care to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients with complex medical needs in a busy PICU environment. The position requires dedication to patient safety and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

Schedule: Rotating shifts with 12 hours per shift and a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: California Registered Nurse (RN) license, BSN degree, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, a minimum of 3 years of pediatric critical care experience, and valid certifications in ACLS from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, and previous travel nursing experience.
Additional Information: The role involves administering complex medications such as anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, vasopressors, blood product management, and maintaining ventilator support. Proficiency in Epic charting system, End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, and advanced patient care procedures are required. Travel and float flexibility may be necessary within a 75+ mile radius, with approval for any time off or schedule adjustments. Orientation begins with a 24-hour course, and ongoing modules are required annually to maintain certification standards necessary for pediatric critical care.
